The Morning Clouds – Wasted Youth Blues

  • November 22, 2011

Colorado musician Josh Wambeke recently released Wasted Youth Blues – the debut EP of his latest project, The Morning Clouds. While on break from his space-rock shoegaze outfit Fell, Wambeke (formerly half of the psychedelic pop duo Phineas Gage) lost his daytime job as an insurance adjuster and returned to his teenage pastime of solo songwriting and recording to four track. Boosted by the success of early singles “A Walk Home” and “The Wrong Things”, Wambeke threw together a band to capitalize on the momentum. Backed by Lanette Walker (keyboards), Matt Schild (bass), John Fate (drums), and Spencer Alred (guitars), Wambeke wrote, performed and recorded the six songs which are characterized by spaced-out pop hooks, sparse arrangements with a touch of synth, heavy reverb, and stories of sadness, regret and loneliness. Check out Wasted Youth Blues to hear some of the sounds of a dedicated musician who has been making a great name for himself in the local scene. – Written by JFelton
