NY band Nada Surf is coming out with their seventh album on January 24th, The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy. Trio Matthew Caws (guitar, vocals), Daniel Lorca (bass), and Ira Elliot (drums) are joined by Doug Gillard (guitars; Guided by Voices) for their first album in four years. With producer Chris Shaw (Wilco, Super Furry Animals) at the helm, Nada Surf recreate their live show experience and energy, forgoing their usual in-studio precision and craftsmanship. This is not to say that the ten tracks of rock aren’t thoughtful or well crafted – they are, but and they are looser and free.
