Nell Robinson – On the Brooklyn Road

  • October 31, 2011

Nell Robinson got her start singing later in life and brings her unique voice and personal stories to life on her second traditional country and bluegrass album, On The Brooklyn Road. Named after the red clay dirt road leading up to the rural Alabama farm that has been in her family for many generations, the collection is a mix of original compositions, covers of songs from some of the genre’s greats like Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, and Elvis, as well as recordings of Robinson family stories and lore. While Robinson’s sultry vocals hold their own very well, she is backed by some of the best contemporary bluegrass and American folk players including Jim Nunally, Laurie Lewis, John Reischman (The Jaybirds), Keith Little and Rob Ickes. Check out this charming cd; bonus tracks feature Robinson’s yodeling sister act, The Henriettas. – Written by SMarx
