Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds – Push the Sky Away

  • May 14, 2013

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are celebrating 30 years as a band with their follow-up to 2008’s Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!, Push the Sky Away. However none of the original Bad Seeds are with the group – multi-instrumentalist and lead guitarist Mick Harvey left in 2009 but longtime member Warren Ellis, amongst others, remains. The alt-rock/post punk group is historically known for their narrative lyrics, but this time around they take a minimalist approach, creating finely crafted, sober arrangements inspired by Cave’s fascination with how the serious and profound co-exist with the absurd and trendy on the internet. While not the traditional Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds sound, Push the Sky Away is another key piece in the band’s discography. Standout tracks include opener “We No Who U R”, “Water’s Edge”, and “We Real Cool.” – Written by SMarx
