Midwesterner David Strackany, who records under the name Paleo, just released his latest folk album Fruit of the Spirit. Over the course of three days, Strackany and his musician friends recorded eleven tracks on analogue with Daytrotter engineer and co-founder Patrick Stolley, resulting in his most collaborative and polished effort to date. That does not mean that his characteristic narratives aren’t raw at times or his vocals scratchy and trilling, but it is a more cohesive collection that is creative, enthralling and personal.
