Based on the name alone one would expect that Petunia and The Vipers are a punk rock band fronted by a wholesome country girl. Lucky for us, Petunia is a man with the best country western yodel since Slim Whitman, a love for rockabilly and a knack for blending jazz, country, and honky tonk into the mix, and The Vipers are a sextet of backing musicians who specialize in electric guitar, acoustic bass, percussion, sax and trumpet. Their self-titled album is the latest endeavor from Petunia, who has long been on the Vancouver B.C. roots scene as a solo artist and with his former band, The Loons.
