Chicago musician Will Phalen has his hands in many projects, from his folk rock band Will Phalen and the Stereo Addicts to Sun King, his partnership with childhood friend Jordan McGee, to his role as a producer. His latest effort is a solo one – Holy Ghost / Gold Coast – ten tracks of roots / Americana, or what Phalen refers to as “digital folk” – are an interesting journey in sonic experimentation and atmosphere. On a strict schedule of recording one song a night, Phalen played all parts then layered and looped to achieve the final results. Lead single “Suddenly” was recently featured on Chicago Mixtape; other top tracks include “Even Though” and ”Candycane Mountain In My Mind.” – Written by JFelton
