Pharis and Jason Romero – A Passing Glimpse

  • November 1, 2011

British Columbia husband-wife duo Pharis and Jason Romero share their love of old time country and Applachian mountain music on their album A Passing Glimpse. The two have an intertwined musical past, meeting at a fiddle convention and later sharing duties as members of The Haints Old Time Stringband with Pharis on lead vocals and Jason on guitar and banjo. Here their partnership marries their reverence for traditional country and Jason’s other career as an open-back banjo maker, with 15 songs of harmonies, artistry, and lyrics filed with heartbreak, loneliness, hard work, and struggle. Standouts include the title track, “Wait Till the Clouds Roll By”, and the instrumental “Cumberland Gap.” – Written by SMarx
