Pickwick – Can’t Talk Medicine

  • March 26, 2013

Can’t Talk Medicine is the highly anticipated full length debut from Seattle-based band Pickwick, whose first release was the stellar 7” series Myths in 2011. Pickwick blends melodic indie-pop with bluesy rock and ‘70s soul that combine guitars and keys with strong rhythms and Galen Disston’s powerful vocals. Recorded live at home onto an 8 track tape, Can’t Talk Medicine contains a rich, edgy and intimate sound. Standouts include the soulful opener “Halls of Columbia”, “Lady Luck” which features a stunning duet with Sharon van Etten, the bluesy R&B track “Brother Roland”, and the toe-tapping “Hacienda Motel.” Pickwick is the real deal, living up to all the hype and I highly recommend picking-up this album and seeing them live! – Written by JFelton
