Quiet Hollers – I Am The Morning

  • January 16, 2014

Louisville, Kentucky quintet Quiet Hollers released their debut album of alt-country, I Am The Morning. Back in 2010 the group started as a backing band for singer/guitarist Shadwick Wilde’s solo album, Unforgivable Things, and kept on working together. The eight acoustic tracks, which the band has dubbed “Bummerfolk” (in part due to the melancholy mood as well as a nod to the funeral home studio where they recorded the LP), are dark but not dreary, offering glimpses of redemption. Standouts on this impressive first release include “Road Song”, “Not Oceans, Not Skies”, and closing ballad “Flying Song.” – Written by SMarx
