Rhett Miller – The Dreamer

  • July 23, 2012

Critically acclaimed NY based singer/songwriter and Old 97’s frontman Rhett Miller is out with his sixth solo venture, The Dreamer. His previous solo efforts shied away from the alt-country bent of the Old 97’s, opting instead for a rock sound but this time around Miller sports a twang inflected country roots. Backed by The Serial Lady Killers and teaming up with songstresses like Roseanne Cash (on duet “As Close As I Came to Being Right”) and Rachel Yamagata (harmonies), this self-produced and released full-length features acoustic and electric guitars, pedal steel, and piano. The longtime musician hits all the right notes on The Dreamer, making it one of the best pieces in his discography. – Written by SMarx
