Ryan Adams – Ashes and Fire

  • October 21, 2011

After backing band The Cardinals disbanded in 2009, legendary singer/songwriter Ryan Adams moved to California, the land of heat and rebirth, which in part inspired his thirteenth album, Ashes & Fire. Recorded at Adam’s home studio on analog and produced by Glyn Johns (Bob Dylan, The Band, The Who), the album is a return to some of the early alt-country / folk-pop sounds of Adams’ post-Whiskeytown career. Industry rumors that Ashes & Fire rivals his solo debut turned modern classic, Heartbreaker, are true. Adams’ lyrics and vocals remain deeply expressive while maintaining a new found (and hard-earned) balance and genuinely upbeat mood. Longtime fans will definitely be thrilled and new fans will be gained by this latest outstanding addition to Adams’ accomplished discography. – Written by SMarx
