Ryley Walker – All Kinds of You

  • August 24, 2014

24 year old Chicago native and singer/songwriter/guitarist Ryley Walker is out with his full length debut, All Kinds of You, via the Tompkins Square label. Following the release of two limited-edition cassettes, a single, and his West Wind EP, Walker’s latest is reminiscent of 1970’s Britfolk in the vein of John Martyn, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn and Nick Drake. All Kinds of You is a collection of nine songs that traverse many genres and instruments in confident and creative ways, anchored by his assured baritone and effortless fingerpicking. Standouts include: the Celtic infused opener “The West Wind”; the expressive downbeat strings of “Blessings”; the country blues tune “Great River Road”; and the gorgeous closer “Tanglewood Spaces.” – Written by JFelton
