Shout Out Louds – Optica

  • March 19, 2013

Stockholm based five-piece Shout Out Louds released their fourth album of indie pop, Optica. Following 2010’s Work, the Shout Out Louds have increased the experimentation and delivered more variety, addressing critics’ proclamations that their recent works were pleasant but bland. A few of the twelve tracks on Optica bring to mind the Cure and New Order both in their use of synths and in their bouncy delivery of melancholy lyrics, to positive effect. Frontman Adam Olenius (vocals, guitar) and bandmate Bebban Stenborg (keys, accordion, backing vocals) are getting closer to hitting all the right strides, which is aided by their regaining control of production. All in all, Optica is an enjoyable set of indie pop. – Written by SMarx
