Slow Club – Paradise

  • October 27, 2011

British band Slow Club is out with their second album, Paradise. Like 2009’s Yeah So, it features danceable indie folk with catchy boy-girl vocals and witty lyrics. But this time around the duo of Charles Watson (guitar) and Rebecca Taylor (guitar, drums, found objects) plumb more melancholy depths, taking on romantic failures, death, and family. The cute, sunny and yes, twee, twosome display a maturity that inhabits their songwriting and musicianship. Slow Club has grown a lot in the past couple years, and Paradise is a pleasantly surprising achievement, proving that this is a band on the path to bigger things. – Written by SMarx
