St. Paul & Broken Bones – Half the City

  • March 16, 2014

Birmingham, Alabama seven-piece St. Paul & the Broken Bones are out with their phenomenal debut of southern soul, Half the City. Charismatic frontman Paul Janeway was raised on gospel, and the Pentecostal influence is heavy, but the infusion of Muscle Shoals sounds and vibe and a strong horn section make for an intoxicating mix. Produced by Ben Tanner, (Alabama Shakes), Half the City is imbued with Southern charm, fire, grit, and slow burn. Standouts among the dozen tracks are opener “I’m Torn Up”, the title track, and “Broken Bones & Pocket Change.” – Written by SMarx
