Following the successful reunion tour, Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus is back with his current band, The Jicks, and they have released their sixth excellent studio effort, Wig Out at Jagbags. Gone this time are drummer Janet Weiss (who departed to Wild Flag), 2011 Mirror Traffic producer, Beck, and longtime backdrop of Portland, OR (Malkmus wrote the album in new hometown of Berlin). Now with Jake Morris on percussion and the band producing their own record, Malkmus and the Jicks bust out 12 tight guitar-driven rock songs notable for their melody and characteristically witty wordplay.
