THE BUILDERS AND THE BUTCHERS | SALVATION IS A DEEP DARK WELL
Salvation Is a Deep Dark Well, the Builders and the Butchers’ sophomore release, continues tried-and-true down the path set by their self-titled debut: twangy, macabre country noir with religious themes and boot-stomping call-and-response rave-ups. Songwriter Ryan Sollee’s fondness for rural south and tales of strife and struggle are full of familiar themes and characters like the Devil, soldiers, branches, wind, rain and hell fire. The overarching message of Salvation Is a Deep Dark Well is that salvation lights the way through the darkness and hard times.

THE BUILDERS AND THE BUTCHERS | SELF-TITLED
BLADEN COUNTY RECORDS
Portland’s The Builders and The Butchers funeral songwriting project results in an album of gothic Americana tales featuring gospel-infused call-and-response style vocals, banjo, mandolin, tambourines, washboard, fiddle and traditional guitar. If you have the opportunity to see them live, go.
