GOLDEN BLOOM | MARCH TO THE DRUMS
Shawn Fogel, under the moniker Golden Bloom, recently released his six-song debut EP, March to the Drums. Comprised of upbeat indie-pop tracks - three of which are more like instrumental interludes - March to the Drums is simply full of infectious hooky melodies and carefree tunes all sung and played by the talented multi-instrumentalist (guitar, piano, bells). While some of the lyrics tend toward the dark and Fogel constructed the album by perfecting the parts instead of conceiving the tracks as an integral part of a cohesive whole, nevertheless the EP is a great first-time effort. Check out standout track “Rhyme The Reason” for a taste of Golden Bloom. – Written by JFelton

GOLDEN BLOOM | FAN THE FLAMES
Golden Bloom is primarily the work of multi-instrumentalist and frontman, Shawn Fogel, whose Wilco-esque aesthetic and bouncy, upbeat pop songs explore the differences between hope and fear in uncertain times. Fogel plays all the instruments on the record including piano, bass guitar and tenor sax as well as keyboard, harmonica, and drums. Fan the Flames was recorded with Ryan Ball at The Gearbox and produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Mates of State) with remixing by Roger Greenawalt (Ben Kweller) and Dylan Magierek (Mark Kozelek). Another great summertime release especially if you’re a fan of the early Wilco sound.
