MOUNTAIN MAN | MADE THE HARBOR
Mountain Man is a trio of three women (Amelia Meath, Molly Sarle, and Alex Sauser-Monnig) from Bennington, VT, whose haunting, harmony-laden music combines elements of folk, country and traditional American music. On Made the Harbor, their ‘10 debut album, Mountain Man sing a cappella about their mutual love of animals and nature and being a woman. Appalachian folk inspires the sparse instrumentation (lone acoustic guitar) as well as the complex harmonies and the lyrics, which also invoke the traditions, culture and land of the region. This intimate and austere album is simply a beautiful listen and a band well worth seeing live. – Written by JFelton

MOUNTAIN MAN | SUN DOG
Mountain Man is a Vermont based, all-female vocal trio comprised of Amelia Meath, Molly Sarle, and Alex Sauser-Monnig. Occasionally songs are accompanied by sparse guitar, but the songs evolve around cascading vocal harmonies and songwriting heavily steeped in traditional Appalachian folk music. Following-up on their self-titled debut that garnered much praise from bloggers and quickly sold out, “Sun Dog” is another stunning album of beautiful indie folk songs that keep getting better and better. – Written by JFelton
