The War On Drugs – Lost In The Dream

  • March 31, 2014

Philadelphia based band The War On Drugs follow-up 2008’s Wagon Wheel Blues and 2011’s Slave Ambient with their third album, Lost in the Dream. The set of ten songs – which features their trademark mix of hazy, blue-collar indie rock – was developed while touring for Slave Ambient, a writing and recording process that spanned 15 months, five studios, and results in the band’s finest effort to date. The album is solid from from beginning to end; highlights include: the galloping opener “Under the Pressure”; the Springsteen-like “Red Eyes”; the audacious “Burning”, the gorgeous “An Ocean in Between the Waves”; and “In Reverse.” Lost in the Dream is a near flawless record that is surely one of the best of the year. – Written by JFelton
