William Tyler – Impossible Truth

  • March 6, 2013

Lambchop band member William Tyler follows-up his 2010 solo debut of Americana, Behold the Spirit, with an instrumental guitar album, Impossible Truth. Tyler, who has performed with many other acts such as Silver Jews and Bonnie “Prince” Billy, immerses himself in southern California lore and 70’s Laurel Canyon sounds, which he attributes to two books that he was reading about the evolving American landscape: Barney Hoskyns’ Hotel California and Mike Davis’ The Ecology of Fear. Co-produced with Mark Nevers (Bobby Bare, Jr., Andrew Bird, Mount Moriah) and with guest spots by Chris Scruggs, Luke Schneider, Roy Agee, and Scott Martin (Lambchop), the collection of eight tracks are expansive and finely crafted. Check out standouts like opener “Country of Illusion”, promotional single “Cadillac Desert”, and the sprawling 10 minute closer, “The World Set Free.” – Written by JFelton
