Yarn – Almost Home

  • April 9, 2012

Brooklyn based alt-country/roots rock band Yarn recently self-released their fourth album funded by a Kickstarter campaign, Almost Home. With lead vocalist and classically trained guitarist Blake Christiana at the helm, the sextet purposely casts off the Top 40 shackles of sugary pop and revels in solid storytelling and accomplished instrumentation, weaving in acoustic and electric waves of guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass and drums. Produced by Grammy Award winner Bil VornDick (Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley, Bob Dylan), standouts include “Tired of Everything”, “It’s All Over Now” and the title track. Almost Home is an enjoyable country album that grows with each repeated listen. – Written by JFelton
