The Love Language – Libraries

  • June 18, 2010

The second release Libraries from North Carolina’s The Love Language sounds like lo-fi, effects-laden ’60s pop guided by crooning vocals. On Libraries, Stuart McLamb (electric guitar, vocals) enlisted Raleigh producer BJ Burton to help expand that sound with an impressive wall-of-sound production not found on their self-titled debut album. Libraries, The Love Language’s first release on Merge Records, features a collection of solid pop, cavernous drums, percussion, and great swells of stringed instruments. We can only hope that this ever-rotating cast of band members settles down so we can see what direction they go next. – Written by JFelton
