Pearson – Clear Thinking on Mixed Feelings

  • June 29, 2010

Canadian slowcore folk band Pearson’s debut Clear Thinking on Mixed Feelings is a finely polished album with thirteen tracks (most of which break the 4-minute mark) that are emotionally rich with fuzzy expansive arrangements featuring guitars, drums, bells, bass, dobro, glockenspiel, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, flugelhorn. Whether it’s a straightforward song like “This is not a Letter, nor is it a Postcard” or a lo-fi duet like the closing track “Streetlight”, a song which erupts into heavy guitar before retreating to silence, Pearson consistently displays the confidence to experiment and push the limits of their music and a band to keep an eye on. – Written by JFelton
