Thee Oh Sees – Warm Slime

  • July 5, 2010

San Francisco’s Thee Oh Sees boldly start off Warm Slime with the title track that echoes, grinds and haunts your ears for 13 whole minutes. Rather than annoy, the song acts as a primer to prepare you for the six remaining (and much shorter) tracks that take garage, punk, surf-rock, and rockabilly to a hazy middle ground where old and new meet. Led by the super-prolific John Dwyer, Thee Oh Sees have released six LPs in the past three years, and recorded Warm Slime in one day. That sense of freedom and looseness complements the album. Listening to the fuzzy guitars, echoing vocals, and great crashing drums, it’s easy to tell that Thee Oh Sees don’t take themselves too seriously and are having fun, making Warm Slime a great party album or rainy day pick-me-up. – Written by DBosket
