Beth Bombara – Evergreen

  • December 17, 2019

St. Louis based Americana singer/songwriter Beth Bombara follows-up her 2017 Map and No Direction release with Evergreen – an album inspired by a stay at cabin in the Rockies. To quote the band, “The five of us just walked into the studio, set-up in one live room, and hammered out the whole album in less than a week. It was the most fun I’ve ever had making a record. Everyone’s doing what they do…it just felt effortless.” The result is a polished album that blends contemporary folk and Americana that is a bit heavy-hearted while remaining hopeful. Notable tracks include: the heart-on-your-sleeve opener “I’m Only Alone When I Cry”; the rambling ode to her husband “Tenderhearted”; the lightly funk-driven “Good News”; the rocking Americana tinged “Upside Down”; the tender track “Growing Wings”; the striking “Does It Echo?”; and the brooding piano-driven lament “All Good Things.” Beth Bombara’s Evergreen is a solid and enjoyable listen from start to finish, and I look forward to hearing the next album. – Written by JFelton
