The Black – Sun in the Day Moon at Night

  • October 25, 2010

Formed in 03, Austin based band The Black is releasing their second full-length album Sun in the Day Moon at Night. The Black is primarily the project of Dave Longoria and Alan Schaefer and over the years the group has established a collective feel with a rotating cast of musicians, with contributions from many local bands including Knife in the Water, Voxtrot, and You will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. The Black’s sound merges the seemingly incompatible sounds of garage-pop and a 70’s country rock vibe, with a bit of Americana and 60’s British Invasion joining the mix. What results is an energetic album of driving, distorted guitars and raw early country pop-rock, all showcased in a live format – no edits, no dubbing. Sun in the Day Moon at Night is a great introduction to The Black for the uninitiated; I highly recommend taking a listen to this talented band in their latest incarnation. – Written by JFelton
