Blind Pilot – We are the Tide

  • October 17, 2011

Portland, OR’s indie folk rock band Blind Pilot has released their excellent sophomore effort, We Are the Tide. Following 2008’s self-release 3 Rounds & A Sound and the solidification of the line-up as a sextet, the band has toured extensively (including gigs with The Decemberists), fine-tuning many of the tracks on We are the Tide along the way. The group effortlessly incorporates less conventional instruments such as an upright bass, dulcimer, and vibraphone, lending lush soundscapes that finely complement the thoughtful, earnest lyrics. What results is a beautiful album of well-crafted, melodic and enchanting pop. Standouts include opener “Half Moon”, “White Apple”, and “Just One.” – Written by SMarx
