CAAMP By-and-By

The Columbus, Ohio-based trio Caamp returns with their sophomore full-length album By-and-By – a spirited set of country-tinged folk songs and rambling open road singalongs that make a great soundtrack for any road trip. Caamp is comprised of childhood friends Evan Westfall (banjo) and Taylor Meier (lead vocals, guitar) with the later addition of Matt Vinson (bass). The 12 song collection that makes up By-and-By are similar to their earlier releases – twangy guitar progressions; plucky banjo; raspy, heartwarming vocals; but this LP also features the addition of bass which really rounds out the band’s sound. Standout tracks include: the gospel-tinged ballad “Feels Like Home”; the upbeat gem “No Sleep”; the jangly “Peach Fuzz”; the folksy back porch ready jingle “Penny, Heads Up”; the bluesy “On & On & On”; and the intimate bluegrass-tinged closer, “Of Love and Life.” Caamp’s By-and-by is a very pleasant listen and has been on my summer rotation since receiving it. The songs on By-and-By are warm, open-hearted and down-right catchy. – Written by JFelton
