Arizona-based singer/songwriter Brandon Decker (aka Decker) has created an impressive amount of material since 2009 which includes seven music releases, a bunch of videos, multiple cross country tours, a documentary and a craft beer. Decker’s latest release, Born to Wake Up, follows-up 2017’s gritty Into the Red with a collection of songs that are a meditative cosmic country /psych folk journey through haunting and often lonesome Western soundscapes. Standout tracks include: the sedate meditative opening track “The Strawman”; the lead single “Burnin’ Grass”; the country dappling “Awake”; the billowing “Smudge”; the sparse duet “Mexico”; and the piano driven “The Saint.” Born to Wake Up is another solid record from Decker and easily transports the listener to the dusty landscapes he paints in his songs. – Written by JFelton
