Dirty Names – Rock And Roll Mind Control

  • May 17, 2011

Baltimore/D.C.–based Dirty Names takes things back to basics with good old blues-tinged rock ‘n’ roll. Their latest EP, Rock And Roll Mind Control, doesn’t hold back. These five guys infuse each song with heaps of attitude, swagger and energy, and it’s evident early on in the EP that they are t-r-o-u-b-l-e. Guitar riffs are appropriately infectious, the drums are unrelenting, and there is just enough twang and spice to lend each track a mischievious edge. The Rolling Stones’ influence is clearly heard on “Salt Water Jackie,” a pretty great track about, well, a girl named Jackie, and the ballad “I Don’t Care,” in which singer Harrison Cofer teeters on the line of becoming a Mick Jagger impersonator, but reels it in just enough. All in all, Dirty Names proves on this EP that they have the goods, and if you’re a fan of classic Stones-era music, this should be your latest fix. – Written by DBosket
