Dori Freeman – Every Single Star

  • December 18, 2019

Galax, Virginia’s Dori Freeman is a charming folk singer/songwriter with subtle country leanings and Every Single Star is her fourth impressive album. Every Single Star was again produced by Teddy Thompson (son of Linda and Richard Thompson) and is filled with AM Gold charm along with subtle 1970’s country-rock. Freeman is a very talented songwriter who paints vivid images be it a reflective sentimental song, a love ballad, or a weeper, and she is in top form on Every Single Star. Album highlights include: the lonesome love song “That’s How I Feel”; a beautiful and sunny song about parenting, “Like I Do”; the country-tinged duet with Teddy Thompson “2 Step”; the Appalachian style waltz “Darlin’ Boy”; the Linda Ronstadt-esque rollicking lover’s kiss-off “Go On”; and the closing-track and lullaby, “I’ll Be Coming Home.” Dori Freeman, in my opinion, has made another near-flawless and polished album with Every Single Star which is also a joy to listen to. – Written by JFelton
