Emily Nenni soared to prominence with her acclaimed debut, “On the Ranch,” in 2022. Today, the Nashville-based country sensation unveiled her latest offering, “Drive & Cry,” a 12-track compilation led by the vibrant single, “Get to Know Ya.” Just like her previous work, this album offers an intimate glimpse into Nenni’s life, with her writing nearly all the tracks herself, except for one. Reflecting on her creative process, she shared, “Change is both challenging and rewarding.”
Produced by John James Tourville of The Deslondes, “Drive & Cry” was recorded at Creative Workshop in Nashville and mixed by Matt Ross-Spang at Southern Grooves in Memphis. Featuring collaborations with talented musicians like Bella White and others, the album promises to captivate audiences. Set to release on May 3 via New West Records, it will be available in various formats, including digital platforms, compact disc, and standard black vinyl, with exclusive autographed editions also on offer.
“Get to Know Ya” sets the tone for the album, showcasing Nenni’s unwavering connection to her roots. “I was selling cowboy boots while my coworkers planned a night at the honky tonk,” she reminisced. Inspired by the lively spirit of Nashville, Nenni aimed to infuse the album with upbeat melodies, reminiscent of ’80s classics like “Hard Country.” – Jason Felton
