James Vincent McMorrow – Early in the Morning

  • October 21, 2010

Early in the Morning, the debut indie folk album by Dubliner James Vincent McMorrow, was released this past February to the praise of critics and swiftly won over fans in the UK and abroad. Holed up in a remote seaside house the first five months of 09, McMorrow immersed himself in the craft of songwriting, playing multiple instruments, and recording a captivating narrative collection of tracks that feature acoustic guitar, drums, banjo, and electric piano. Standout tracks include hauntingly soulful “Follow me down to the Red Oak Tree” and opener “If I had a Boat.” Early in the Morning is a satisfying set of engaging songs comprised of McMorrow’s gorgeously fragile vocals that reflect the depth and isolation in which they were produced. – Written by JFelton
