John Paul Keith and The One Four Fives – The Man That Time Forgot

  • November 28, 2011

John Paul Keith was a musical prodigy in the making – learning guitar at the tender age of ten by playing along with his father’s Chuck Berry and B.B. King records – but the bright lights of Nashville did not shine upon this Knoxville son the way many expected. But you can’t keep a good man down, and this singer/songwriter has made a name for himself in Memphis as frontman for The One Four Fives. Their third album, The Man That Time Forgot, produced by Bruce Watson (co-founder, Fat Possum Records) is a mélange of far-flung yet seamlessly integrated mid-to-late 20th century sounds. From 60’s power pop to Tex-Mex, from rockabilly to R&B, from garage rock to country, Keith confidently leads the gang with a little bit of twang through a great batch of tunes. Standouts include opener “Never Could Say No”, “Songs for Sale”, and “The Last Last Call.” – Written by JFelton
