Joshua Hedley – Mr. Jukebox

  • September 3, 2018

Florida native and Nashville based country crooner/fiddler Joshua Hedley is out with his debut album, Mr. Jukebox, on Jack White’s label, Third Man Records. This collection of ten tracks shows Hedley embracing the classic country music sounds of the 60’s, calling to mind country legends like Ray Price, George Jones and Eddy Arnold. Mr. Jukebox is a polished record that showcases Hedley’s fiddle skills and strong vocal chops, both honed over the years as a Nashville scene mainstay. Album highlights include: the excellent title-track; the fiddle-driven honky-tonk “Let Them Talk”; the traditional style heartbreaking ballad “Counting All My Tears”; the crying-in-your-beer break-up song “These Walls”; the Mexican music inflected waltz “Weird Thought Thinker”; the bittersweet “Let’s Take a Vacation”; and a lovely cover of the Disney classic, “When You Wish Upon a Star.” Mr. Jukebox is a great record that is filled with integrity and respect for the past and so well-crafted that Hedley makes old country sounds feel new all over again. – Written by JFelton
