Laura Gibson – Goners

  • January 31, 2019

Having just finished her MFA in writing, Oregon based singer/songwriter Laura Gibson uses her polished songwriting talents to create a tender, somber and moving album titled Goners, giving listeners a gorgeous listening experience that will sit with them for a long time. Gibson describes her fifth album as being “about grief, but more specifically, it’s about the ways we share our loss with others, the ways we project pain, lash out, or become cracked open by the immediacy of another person.” Album highlights include: the twinkling opening track “I Carry Water”; the sparse but swirling “Slow Joke Grin”; the electro-pop-tinged “Domestication”; the captivating toe-tapper “Tenderness”; the somber “Marjory”; and the pensive “I Don’t Want Your Voice to Move Me.” Gibson delivers one of her finest work works with the deeply moving and profoundly gorgeous Goners. – Written by JFelton
