Moondoggies – Tidelands

  • October 6, 2010

The Moondoggies sprang out of Seattle’s ever changing music scene in 08 with their classic rock (ala Grateful Dead and Neil Young) tinged debut Don’t Be a Stranger, and Fall ‘10 brings the band’s highly anticipated follow-up, Tidelands. With a signature sound that is centered around three-part harmonies, the Moondoggies showcase an even more cohesive, fully-realized sound on Tidelands. The band’s warm, roots-tinged music is more dynamic and varied, ranging from gospel-influenced rockers to desolate acoustic ballads. The band’s songwriting has also become darker and richer, capturing the sense of solace of remote Ketchikan, Alaska, lead singer and guitarist Kevin Murphy’s old stomping grounds. Tidelands, which was co-produced by Erik Blood and the band (with additional input by Seattle luminaries Phil Ek and Kurt Bloch), flows beautifully from beginning to end and that the Moondoggies keep getting better with each release. – Written by JFelton
