Motel Mirrors – In the Meantime

  • July 15, 2018

Memphis band Motel Mirrors formed in 2013 when singer/songwriter Amy LaVere (upright bass) and roots rocker John Paul Keith recorded a well-received album of duets. A half-decade later, Motel Mirrors increased their line-up to include: Will Sexton (vocals/guitars), Shawn Zorn (drums), and Eric Lewis (steel guitar). The result is In the Meantime – a compelling mix of country, folk, soul and roots rock. Standout tracks include: the 1950’s style country duet “I Wouldn’t Dream of It”; the John Paul Keith penned nostalgic country number, “Let Me Be Sweet to You”; the bluesy “Blue on Blue”; the catchy “Things I’ve Learned”; the vintage rock n’ roll-tinged “Remember When You Gave a Damn”; and the Johnny Cash inspired “Loving in the Morning.” Give In the Meantime a spin – it is a deeply satisfying listen. – Written by JFelton
