Talented musicians Heather McEntire (of post-punk band Bellafea) and Jenks Miller (of psych metal group Horseback) together form the hot new alt-country rock band Mount Moriah. Their self-titled debut is generating a buzz, with their unexpected sound that shows country and gospel folk influences, indie rock flourishes and alt-country leanings, but not firmly residing within any of these worlds. At the heart is McEntire’s haunting vocals rising above the spare finger-picked guitar, pedal steel and organ accompaniment, but never overshadowing the instrumentation.
