The Rural Alberta Advantage – Departing

  • February 16, 2011

One of 2009’s critic’s favorite, The Rural Alberta Advantage, are back with their sophomore indie rock album Departing. The Toronto-based trio, who still sing of heartbreak and beauty, small towns and seasons, also retain the nostalgia that permeates their 2009 debut album Hometowns. However, Departing reveals a finely evolved sound, with refined instrumentation filled with guitar and keyboards. Standout tracks include “Tornado ‘87”, “North Star”, and “Coldest Days.” – Written by JFelton
