Ted Russell Kamp – Walkin’ Shoes

  • April 6, 2019

Aside from his work as a bassist for Shooter Jennings, Ted Russell Kamp has had a prolific roots-rock solo career dating back to the 90’s and his 11th release, Walkin’ Shoes, is another excellent addition to his discography. Walkin’ Shoes is an upbeat road album that mixes vintage Texas and Oklahoma country with elements of the Bakersfield sound. The result is a timeless sounding album with polished songwriting, a tight band, and Kamp’s wily sense of humor and common-sense wisdom. Standout tracks include: the toe-tapping opening track “Home Away From Home”; the solemn “Highway Whisper”; the simmering ballad “We Don’t Have To Be Alone”; the country blues rocker “Tail Light Shine”; the zydeco flavored “Less Thinkin’, More Drinkin’”; and the country ballad “This Old Guitar.” There is not a bad track on Ted Russell Kamp’s Walkin’ Shoes but that’s no surprise from this veteran musician. – Written by JFelton
