The Howlin Brothers – Still Howlin

  • September 10, 2019

Nashville based trio The Howlin Brothers – Dan Swann (upright bass), Jared Green (vocals, guitar) and Ian Craft (vocals, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, bass drum) – follow-up 2017’s Cannonball with their self-produced Still Howlin. On their latest, the Brothers return with another quality set music that seamlessly blends traditional country, folk, and blues. Album highlights include: the driving opener “Lucky Enough”; the tin Pan Alley vibe on “Broken-Hearted Man”; the high-spirited cover of Bill Monroe’s “Uncle Penn”; the rambling “Hard Luck and Troubles”; the skiffle inspired “Watermelon Bucket Band”; the bluesy folk number “Wrapped Around Your Finger”; the toe-tapping country song “Harmonica Song”; and the fragile country ballad “Quiet Town.” With five albums under their belt the Brothers haven’t lost a step and continue releasing great albums. – Written by JFelton
