L.A. band Whispering Pines is a Laurel Canyon inspired five-piece whose eponymous record is a great collection of Americana and roots rock. The guys – David Baine (guitar, organ, mandolin, piano, vocals), Joe Bourdet (guitar, slide, organ, vocals), David Burden (harmonica, vocals), Brian Filosa (bass, vocals), and Joe Zabielski (drums, percussion) – named their group after the song by The Band, and while they indulge in the laid-back sounds of 70’s FM radio rock, they also tie in country, folk and blues filled with strong guitar and sweet harmonies. This self-titled release expands upon their acclaimed 2010 debut “Family Tree” showcasing a newfound dynamism and refined level of polish.
