Fresh from Edmonton, Alberta is the quintet of alt-country/folk rock multi-instrumentalists Wool on Wolves, whose debut full length album is called Grey Matter. Recorded in a basement which doubles as their rehearsal space, Wool on Wolves produced a collection of melancholy songs that showcase some powerful full-band riffs – almost symphonic – and smoothly textured jams. With an EP under their belt and a tour with The Deep Dark Woods scheduled this Spring, the group, whose sound evokes Son Volt, early Wilco and Ryan Adams, are off to a promising start. – Written by JFelton
