Christopher Owens – Lysandre

  • December 12, 2012

This past July, Christopher Owens unexpectedly announced that he was leaving his band Girls less than a year after they released their exceptional second release, Father, Son, Holy Ghost only to announce a few months later that his future in music will be as a solo act and that he is releasing a new album Lysandre. As Owens explains, “Lysandre is a concept album about Girls’ first tour, the fears and excitement of a young songwriter facing his growing audience, and the woman he met and fell in love with while in France.” Owens is just as musically adventurous as ever, incorporating inspiration from many different musical genres, from the folky ballad “A Broken Heart” and the prog-rock “New York City” to the tongue-in-cheek sing-along pop tune “Love Is in the Ear of the Listener”, as well as the calypso inspired “Riviera Rock”, the AM Gold sound found on “Everywhere You Knew”, and the epic and breathtaking title track. In my opinion, Christopher Owens is one of the most promising young musicians to watch, listen, and follow. – Written by JFelton
