Glen Hansard – Rhythm and Repose

  • June 6, 2012

Glen Hansard, frontman of the Irish band The Frames and half of the Academy Award winning duo featured in the movie Once, The Swell Season, has released his first solo record after 20 years in the industry. Hansard started as a busker on the streets of Dublin after quitting school at the age of 13, and has since built a storied career. Rhythm and Repose‘s eleven tracks of passionate folk rock were inspired by his life in NYC the past 18 months, and the set is a real gem. Instrumentation ranges from simple guitar and piano to full, lush orchestration from heavy hitting backing artists Brad Albetta (bass; Martha Wainwright), Ray Rizzo (drums), Nico Muhly and Rob Moose (strings; Bon Iver), David Mansfield (slide guitar; Bob Dylan), Javier Mas (Leonard Cohen) and half of Bruce Springsteen’s current horn section. Set for release on Anti on June19th, check out promo singles “Love Don t Leave Me Waiting” and “Philander.” – Written by SMarx
