Kingsley Flood – Battles

  • March 4, 2013

Boston and Washington DC based six-piece Kingsley Flood is out with their sophomore full length, Battles, an accomplished album of roots-rock that is sure to garner a wider fan base beyond their widely successful local presence. Following their 2010 Americana debut Dust Windows and 2012 EP Colder Still, the sextet – Naseem Khuri (vocals, rhythm guitar), George Hall (lead guitar), Chris Barrett (trumpet), Jenée Morgan (violin, saxophone), Nick Balkin (bass), Travis Richter (drums, percussion) – explore a more rock oriented groove, complete with classic guitars and Springsteen-esque stories of struggle, family, bills, and the fading American dream. The album was funded by a winning PledgeMusic campaign and the band is already poised to play at the legendary Newport Folk Festival this summer. – Written by SMarx
