Strand of Oaks – Dark Shores

  • September 6, 2012

Philadelphia based musician Timothy Showalter – a.k.a. Strand of Oaks – is out with his latest full length of melancholy folk, the aptly titled Dark Shores. Showalter, whose debut album Leave Ruin stemmed from the loss of his house in a fire and departure of his fiancée, is no stranger to hard times and heartbreak. While Showalter plumbs the depths of despair and dwells amongst the sadness, his songs always offer a glimpse of hope. Produced by prolific songwriter John Vanderslice, the hauntingly lovely collection of ten songs are his most accessible yet. Standouts include the title track, “Satellite Moon” and “Hard to Be Young.” – Written by SMarx
